Hang on a minute. "Artist Statement"???! Geez that sounds pompous. Yet you see it a lot on photographers' websites. I guess it's a fancy way of just rambling on about one's photographs. Blah blah blah.
I'll try and let the images do the talking. However there are a few things you might want to know. And until I build a full-fledged FAQ, you can read them here.
I make prints the old-fashioned way...the really old-fashioned way. I use processes that were mostly invented in the 1800's, now often called 'alternative processes' (because they're alternatives to the gelatin-silver or inkjet printing processes). Mostly these processes involve contact printing with a very large negative, onto paper that is hand-coated with a sensitizer. The paper and negative are exposed to UV light (sometimes sunlight, sometimes an indoor equivalent) and then developed. It's time-consuming, and each print is slightly different. The process involves a lot of mysterious chemicals and more than a few pairs of rubber gloves.
So how do you buy one of these prints? I considered just putting up a shopping cart and 'buy now' buttons, but that seemed so impersonal. I don't sell hundreds and hundreds of prints, and if you want a print I'd at least like to say hi via email. So just contact me HERE and we can talk about your new print acquisition. If a print is for sale, there is a price listed. Otherwise it'll say "not for sale".
Thanks!
